Tony Kart driver Nick Heyward ran the new 2010 Vortex KF2 at Hawke’s Bay Blossom event on the Tony Kart EVR Chassis. Although time didn’t allow much testing on Friday, the kart showed very good pace setting, with a best lap time of 31.176 and with more time in the seat, would comfortably have gone under 31 seconds. The KF2 deservedly received alot of interest over the weekend and surprised spectators with it’s ability to be able to mix it up with the KZ2 and more powerful twin engine karts. The engine proved very easy to tune and once we got it right, required very little attention.Orders are now being taken for KF2 engines
..Nick Heywood on the Vortex KF2
Firstly I must say the sound that comes from the Vortex KF2 engine is absolutely awesome. The power comes on incredibly strong and just keeps coming, it surprised myself and others how I was able to tag along the back of a KZ2 and not be left behind. It is extremely easy to adapt to and is an all-round brilliant and exciting drive. I recommend the Vortex KF2 engine to anyone.

OTK karts were dominant in 3 of the senior classes at Hawke’s Bay’s Annual Blossom two day meeting.
OPEN
Karl Wilson dominated the Open Class with his EVR Tony Kart/Vortex powered kart. Wilson set the fastest qualifying lap for both days and taking every heat in the two days. He was Followed by Johnathon Pearson (EVR/Vortex) ,who was third and Nick Heyward (EVR/Vortex KF2 )who was fourth.
YAMAHA LIGHT
Wilson running his Racer ST Tony Kart set the pace on Saturday qualifying fastest with James Gorham (EVR Tony Kart) hard on his heels, but Sunday the roles were reversed and Gorham showed his persistence paid off and he won the 2 day event with Wilson second.
YAMAHA HEAVY
This Class was closely fought out between Zack Zaloum (ST Racer Tony Kart) and fellow HB driver Sean Reay (Kosmic Mercury). Although Zaloum set the fastest for the weekend, it was Reay who managed to pull the win off for the weekend, with the lead constantly changing between the two every heat, making it great spectator viewing.
